PACE THE INNOVATORS
In offering PACE's Exclusive Maintenance Policy to our
customers we're doing something which has never been done before in our type of
business. For PACE to introduce an innovative Maintenance Policy was no
surprise to people in our industry. We've been innovators all or our more
than 44 years in business. We're pioneers in the development of Wet
Surface roof coating. We originated the ideas for a one-coater line to the
marketplace. We were the first to introduce a one-coat blacktop sealer and
sold over a million gallons of it before competition followed us. We were
the first to develop the use of fiberglass in an aluminum roof coating and many
more.
The Maintenance Policy has turned out to be our best
innovation. It is a child of the times, born out of necessity to educate
our customers to save their tremendous investment in roofs and blacktops.
As their cost today is a fraction of what it will be in 10 years, this is a
program for today, geared for tomorrow and many tomorrows. It is a strong
effort on our part and we are sure an intelligent effort to persuade folks to
think ahead...to plan on roof maintenance.
IT REMOVES THE CREDIBILITY GAP
The
PACE Maintenance Policy concept discards the idea that there are cure-alls in
roof and pavement maintenance. No salesman is being honest with his
customers if he says a roof renewal or a pavement renewal will last a specific
number of years. If you were to make such a statement, you would
immediately create a credibility gap that you could never bridge. But we
can tell you with honesty and confidence that we'll resolve your present
problems and give you a program for continuous maintenance which, if carefully
followed, can very likely make your roof or blacktop last as long as the
building.
A number of leading trade organizations urge
their members to give up specific time guarantees. Many have given these
up, but to our knowledge none have discovered an acceptable substitute for the
guarantee. Common reaction has been "If we don't give a warranty, let's
not talk about it. Let's just forget it."
ADVANTAGES OF THE PACE MAINTENANCE POLICY
PACE refused to settle for that kind of thinking.
We discussed it. We re-thought it and decided if we could develop a
program to intelligently educate our customers we would incorporate this into a
kind of service policy. The Maintenance Policy is the result:

It
assures the customer that for 5 years (roofs) or 3 years (blacktops or concrete
pavement) we're obligated to supply whatever remedial materials are necessary to
give him service at a 25% discount from list price at the time he orders.
Remedial materials can be ordered in the dollar amount equal to the original
order.
