QUESTION: What is OASIS? ANSWER: OASIS is actually two masonry waterproofing systems. One, OASIS TRANSPARENT is a clear, transparent silicone resin. The other, OASIS II is a polystyrene based resin. QUESTION: Which product should I use? ANSWER: This is up to you. If you want to waterproof masonry and leave its natural beauty, then use OASIS TRANSPARENT. If you want to waterproof your building and add color and improve its appearance at the same time, such as a concrete block or poured concrete building, stucco or wood, then use OASIS II. QUESTION: How long will OASIS TRANSPARENT and OASIS II protect the building exterior? ANSWER: Field tests have shown that OASIS TRANSPARENT will have a reasonable life expectancy of 10 years -- OASIS II up to 8 years. QUESTION: Is OASIS always a one-coat job? ANSWER: Definitely! One coat of either OASIS TRANSPARENT or OASIS II does in one coat what other products require 2 and 3 coats to accomplish. QUESTION: How are OASIS II and OASIS TRANSPARENT applied? ANSWER: Both OASIS II and OASIS TRANSPARENT can be applied with either brushes, long nap rollers or conventional paint spraying equipment. QUESTION: What coverage can be expected with OASIS II and OASIS TRANSPARENT? ANSWER: OASIS TRANSPARENT will cover at a rate of 150 square feet per gallon on porous block and 225 sq. ft. per gallon on brick, up to 300 sq. ft. per gallon on smooth surface masonry. OASIS II covers at a rate of 100 sq. ft. per gallon on brick, block, stucco; 200 sq. ft. on wood. QUESTION: Should OASIS be thinned? ANSWER: OASIS TRANSPARENT should never be thinned. It comes ready to use. OASIS II can be thinned with water for spraying. QUESTION: What preparations are necessary for applying OASIS II? ANSWER: Complete instructions are on every container. Generally, brush and clean the surface thoroughly, remove all dirt, oil, grease, efflorescent lime and loose particles. Repair all large cracks and repoint joints where mortar is missing. QUESTION: Will OASIS waterproof wood or metal? ANSWER: OASIS TRANSPARENT is strictly for masonry. OASIS II is recommended for wood. Neither product is sold for metal surfaces.
