SUBJECT:  WHITE-STAR vs. acrylic latex (water based) type of roof coatings.

Water freezes.  This results in a very short season during which water based coatings can be applied.  Roof repairs are virtually impossible during the winter months.  WHITE-STAR will not freeze.  It contains no water and can be applied any time that temperatures are 40° F. and above.

When the temperature drops to 40° to 50° F., the acrylic coating's ability to cure is brought practically to a stand-still.  Higher humidities also increase the time it takes to cure.  There have been reports of applications where the coating was washed off a roof by rain even a week after application.  In contrast,  WHITE-STAR dries to the touch in only 2 to 3 hours.  Cures throughout in 2 to 3 days.  Plus WHITE-STAR is not water soluble.  It cannot be washed off the roof even if a rain shower occurs several hours after application.

Metal Building Review magazine reports that because water based coatings are permeable they can absorb water.  Ponding can soften the product to the point of failure.  Water transmission to the side of the coating from the surface.  Next it attacks the metal's integrity.  A water based coating with a "perm rating" of 3.0 can allow water to penetrate 15 times faster than WHITE-STAR with a 0.2 "perm rating".

RESISTANCE TO ULTRAVIOLET RAYS
The ultraviolet rays of the sun and oxidation from exposure to weather accelerate the aging process of a roof coating.  However, WHITE-STAR has a life expectancy 2 to 3 times that of a conventional coating.  This, made possible through WHITE-STAR's unique formulation.  Synthetic rubbers combined with the ultraviolet inhibitor, Tinuvin, and anti-oxidant, Irganox, create a product unsurpassed for its ability to withstand the damaging effects of weathering.

EASY TO APPLY
Conventional coatings can require costly sandblasting of rusted surfaces.  The unnecessary expense is never required with WHITE-STAR.  Wire brush rusted areas or neutralize rust with RUST BUSTER and you're ready to coat.

NO PRIMERS
Primers are required with conventional coatings.  Then up to 2 or 3 applications of coating to provide extended service.  Primers are NOT required with WHITE-STAR.  They're "built-in".  LABOR COST SLASHED IN HALF!!
